Default Bluetooth stereo sounds awful.

My setup:
Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop
Vista Ultimate 32 bit
Built in bluetooth is Dell Wireless 355 Module with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR Technology with trace filter.
Also in device manager is Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
The Dell Wireless Driver is Broadcom 6.0.1.2500 (latest from Dell site)
Headphones are Sony DR-BT22A

This setup sounds horrible. Yes I have made sure it was in stereo headphones mode and not headset or handsfree mode. In fact the only services I allow for the device is Remote Control and Audio Sink.

The sound is always hissing and noisy and cuts in and out all the time. Also there is a very bad delay so gaming or movies is out of the question.

What can I do?

Hi,

Can you please tell me how did you pair it with your laptop? I tried but I couldn't.

Thanks.

Before I try all that, I will first try unplugging my adapter from the USB hub I just bought and replug it directly into the PC's USB port. If that doesn't work, I'll try messing with the IP addresses as outlined in that thread. This should be way easier, shouldn't it?

Hi,
Bluetooth stereo relies on the host and headphones deciding on a codec to use between them. This may NOT be the same as the codec of the original song, so you will always lose some detail. Furthermore, there is also an agreement of the bit rate used between the host and headphones, and this may be different from the original audio track

It's not a limitation of either the current tech or apple.... The best quality will always be with devices of the same make... My previous sony ericsson phone worked brilliantly with my two year old sony ericsson headphones (DS970)
