Default bluetooth newbie dongle query

Hi, bluetooth newbie here

I just got my first bluetooth dongle......which i use to connect my phone to my pc...I don't know much about bluetooth yet.....is it ok to leave the dongle permanently plugged into my computer? I'm currently only plugging it in when i have to do something with my phone which isn't often....could the dongle...i dunno...overheat or something?

and from a security point of view.....could a running dongle act as a way into my computer for anyone who is within 100m?.....chances are slim that anyone close by would be planning that....but is it possible? is it a possible port or must the dongle be deliberately paired with a device first?

thanks a lot

Default RE: Bluetooth dongle

I usually leave my bluetooth dongle plugged into a front USB port on my PC, and have never had a problem. Security shouldn't be a problem either because someone would have to be able to pair with your PC. (Unprotected WiFi network would be a totally different matter .)
