Getting a local devices services

Hi,

I'm currently undergoing my final year project using Java and Bluetooth in a mobile environment.

I was wondering if there is a way to identify a local devices services?
I have an application running that displays remote devices services but can I search to see if the local device has l2cap capabilities for example?
