SatNav/Cell phone compatibility
I am located in the UK and have a new cellphone - it's a Samsung SGH-J700. I've also bought a Navigon 2150 max SatNav which claims to have Bluetooth connectivity allowing hands free operation of the phone.
I can make a connection between the phone and the satnav but after I make a phone call and hang up the connection fails or, if I try to import contacts from my phone into the satnav it fails. I then have to reboot the satnav to remake the connection.
I believe my phone is using Bluetooth version 2.0 but I can't find out which version the satnav uses, but since it's new presumably it must be a relatively recent release which I would assume would be compatible with the phone.
I've called Samsung who say the Bluetooth chip in the phone is standard and not upgradeable. I've also called the Navigon helpdesk, who are useless, and they have said variously - "we know there's a problem and will be releasing a revision as soon as possible, but it could be months"; "we have checked our list of Symbian phones and yours is not on it and we have no plans to revise the Bluetooth connectivity" - I'm not trying to use the Symbian OS - all I want to do is use the hands free facility.
Has anyone alse suffered similar problems and have they come up with a workaround?
I'm not a techy butwonder if it's possible to upgrade the satnav Bluetooth firmware using a file from another make of satnav that is known to work with a Samsung J700?
BTW I've tried two other cellphones and they won't work either.
Grateful for any help.
