Default Broadband through bluetooth? (Newbie!)

Hi,

I've managed to set up a nice little network between my laptop, desktop, PDA and mobile which all works very nicely when it comes to transferring files about. What DOESN'T work however is the internet connection.

I want to use my broadband connection which I have on my desktop, primarily so that i can use the internet on my laptop at the same time. The phone and the PDA I'm not so bothered about.

But I can't get the laptop to access the desktop's modem. It just dials and dials and then times out. Being broadband, of course, it doesn't need a phone number to access it from the desktop ... but I JUST DON'T GET IT!!

Please give me some advice on where I'm going wrong and what i can do. Is it a piece of hardware I am missing, or is it a setting I should change? I am new to networking as a whole, so I may be missing something very simple.

Thanks very much,
Chloe
