Default problems with voice gateway

i have the latest widcomm drivers installed. im using a d-link USB BT
dongle. i set up a voice gateway to my SE T616 from my laptop. I use the
laptop to dial out, the cell phone dials and connects. i can then hear the
ringing through my laptop. after a couple of rings, i hear the noise
associated with the voice gateway disconnecting from my phone. any
thoughts?

actually after a bit more playing around, it seems that its not
disconnecting, its just going static and then the voice cuts in and out. i
called my voicemail from my phone and it autoconnects to the PC and i can
hear the voice over the PC asking me to enter my PIN but it cuts in and out.
very difficult to understand.

Voice gateway is heavily affected by CPU usage on your computer. Check that.
Also, it's not the best sound system... A headset would be more appropriate,
but that depends on availability of course.

ah, you just hit the nail on the head i think. if its CPU it requires, then
Im SOL. My laptop is a heavily stressed 300mhz p2 running XP pro with
128meg. i had to use a margi card just to get it to play DVD. one more
reason to upgrade.

XP in 128 mb is enough reason to upgrade........Ouch. it boots but I
doubt it'll do much after that.

I have a 366 mhz laptop with 96 mb running linux. It does quite well
for what I need.

actually it does pretty well, considering. its in my car connected to a 7"
touchscreen and works fine for GPS, MP3, browsing the web, DVD is ok with
the margi. i was just trying to use it for integrated hands free cellular
(auto shutoff of sound during incoming calls, etc). ebay time.
