Default Widcomm and Windows ME

Dear Blutoothers,
I have a Bluetooth dongle (Microtune?) and Widcomm version 1.3.2.7
software. I have a faultless installation on my Windows XP Pro desktop
but cannot, whatever I try, get the software to run on my IBM Thinkpad
running Windows Millenium. Is there a known issue with this combination?
The Bluetooth stack and BTtray cause immediate errors and shut down on
bootup of windows with no other applications or services running in the
background or auto starting. Most frustrating since this software would
be much more useful on the Laptop thanthe Desktop though both would be the
ideal situation. Any kind suggestions? I have already tried to install
Win XP on the Laptop but of course Microsoft will not allow this In
any case, the Laptop is a Pentium II which would most likely struggle
under the weight of XP Pro.

Yours hopefully,

James.

Probably.

Windows ME (Millenium Edition), is one of the most *buggy* versions of
Windows 9x there is, and is more than likely the cause of problems.

Windows 98se is much more bug-free/stable, and certainly works
well with the Widcomm Bluetooth stack and drivers.

Sorted! I installed XP on Laptop after all. Seems to work just as fast
as with Millenium, probably faster since there are fewer crashes )

Thanks.

James.
