Default Is it possible for a PC to communicate multiple devices using SPP ?

I have an embedded device which supports a bluetooth interface for transmitting debug message using Serial Port Profile.

I need to get debug message from 10 number of my devices and display them on a PC in separate display window for each of the device. Is it possible to do this with the SPP? what sort of adaptor should we use on the PC side for this setup. Will there be any problem when many bluetooth devices tranmitting data to a single PC at a same time using SPP?

any suggestion ?

thanks,
-rams

Cool

Bluetooth has a maximum number of connected devices per base radio -- 7. As long as you keep it under this number, it will be okay. Otherwise, you'll need another radio.

Otherwise, this project sounds fascinating. If you can, could you clue us all in on what's going on in your project?

Thanks for ur input Xoder,
we r developing a Medical electronic device. For one particular testing purpose this device will be place inside a heat chamber. During that period the debug message will be trasmitted wirelessly through the Bluetooth interface provided in our embedded device. Our device supports SPP.

Actually I am new to the Bluetooth field and we are looking at the possiblities for this test. Right now we are checking the possiblility of using a USB to Bluetooth adaptor -which also supports the SPP- on the PC side to receive the debug message.

My doubt is will there be any problem in the data transmission when two(or more) set of devices are trasmitting data using SPP at a same time when the physical distance between the devices is less than 2 meters ?

Talking

It won't be a problem, Rams. BT is a very robust protocol, so you don't have to worry about interferance. If both devices are going to be connnected to the same computer, they will each get their own BT virtual serial port, so you can't even mix up the messages.

Best of luck with this, it sounds exciting!
