Unhappy Bluetooth Headset via laptop Buetooth adaptor

Hi! I have a Nokia Bluetooth (HDW-2) headset that works just fine with my mobile (SE P800).

Want to be a bit adventurous and use it on my laptop to chat on MSN. Laptop is not bluetooth enabled so was considering getting a bluetooth adaptor thereby enabling bluetootth on laptop.

My question is this: do you expert folk think that it would be possible to use the headset to chat on MSN on my laptop if I got a Bluetooth USB adaptor for my laptop.

Sorry for the longwinded question!

I'm not exactly an expert, but I have been using SE headsets on my laptop. However, I belive only the TDK USB adapters (USB or PC card) are needed since only their software supports the Audio Gateway profile. (The integrated BT stack on my Toshiba doesn't!)

Once you've paired and connected to the headset, it will just appear as an audio device in your Sounds and Audio Devices list (in control panel). The only down side is that volume does not appear to be software adjustable.

HTH!

William

i'm new at this and i'm guessing this is fairly new, but do all bluetooth products work interchangebly? I wanted to buy a bluetooth adapter and a headset for my laptop, but i'm not sure if it'll work. I was looking at the logitech bluetooth headset, but there's no information as to how or if it would connect to a laptop

Yes , you can buy a USB bluetooth dongle , and use just about any Bluetooth headset to chat on MSN or any other software.
