Question PC as a Router

Hi this is my very first post there, and as you'll see I am a total noob when it comes to networking things.

I have 3 PCs, all have wifi hardware installed an working (able to play files over the network.)

My ADSL is connected to PC1 and my Access Point is conencted to PC1 as well.
PC2 and PC3 can talk to PC1 perfectly fine as far as file sharing goes, but when i try to do the WinXP ICS it doesn't share the connection over wireless.

My friends tell me i don't need an access point, i need a wireless router. That means i gotta dish out more money.

Is there some way to configure WinXP on PC1 to make PC1 act as a router?

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

z
