Using Bluetooth with USB

I would like to insert a Bluetooth link into the path between a device with a USB interface and my laptop, so that I don't have to carry them both around a room. I see that there are Bluetooth USB adapters to plug into my laptop, but I haven't seen anything to plug into the device (a piece of test equipment). Anybody know of a way to do this?
