Default I can't turn the thing off!

I've got a BT200 that won't turn off. It will turn off if I have it in
the charger, but if it's out of the charger, the little button with the
telephone on it doesn't seem to work. My earpiece is out of warranty,
so I'd much rather fix it than buy a new one. Any suggestions?

Blast some air into it perhaps?

A more risky suggestion - drain it fully until it powers off. Spray
some electrical contact cleaner in there. Wait, then blast some air in
there, then let it dry COMPLETELY - a day or more, then charge it.

My experience with Jabra is that they don't pay attention to warranty
dates - it's just an instant swap across the counter (in San Diego) by
the receptionist. Perhaps it's different by mail.

Tried the air blast before writing this note, but I didn't do all that
stuff, draining the battery, spraying in electrical contact cleaner,
etc. I'll try that. Then, if no results, maybe I'll just stroll into a
retailer and see if they'll do a swap without a receipt. I'll have to
deal with my guilt to do this, but, oh well....

A retailer? I seriously doubt it. A plantronics owned store? Possibly.
But a independantly owned retail store? Seriously doubt it.

The way it works (I worked corporate cellular for 5 years, retail for
6 months - couldn't stand it) is when we get an item under warranty,
if it's date stamped (i.e. some batteries have a 4 digit date code),
they go back to the factory, we get a replacement. Motorola was the
easiest - fax a form over telling them we have 10 NTNXXXX batteries,
they FedEx us 10 new ones, we fedex them back the 10 bad ones. Non
date coded items we have to provide the manufacturer with a invoice /
proof of purchase. There's no incentive for us to help out a customer
(well, for retail - a walk in customer off the street) who doesn't
have a invoice / receipt to prove his purchase is under a year.

Just call JABRA Tech Support.Telephone support is available between 8:00 AM
and 8:00 PM EST
For all help desk services call Toll-Free in U.S. and Canada:
(800) 327-2230
They are very good, very little wait, and anytime I have called for a
customer, its "And when was it purchased?" I will leave that answer up to
you.

You could also do it by EMAIL, sending a nice lil email stating that my
JABRA 200 Earpiece that I purchased on ??? has developed the following
issues (I would refrain from mentioning any surgery you may have performed)
and very nicely suggest that it is obviously defective, you analyzed all the
Troubleshooting Tips both in your manual and their WebSite and could they
generate an RMA (Return Mercahndise Authorization) and provide all of your
Contact and shipping Info. Make sure you ship usung a Carrier that has some
form of tracking mumner, and make sure the RMA is very prominently written
on at least 2 sides of the box. I think you will see this problem go away
easily.
