Default wireless networking

Hi I have two computers a laptop and a desktop. They both are Windows XP. Verizon DSL service. I bought Belking 54G wireless router. I was able to connect them. I am able to share the internet connection. Now I want to be able to share some programs and files and folders. I checked the other threads I found some info but they were a little advance for me. Can anybody please tell me what to do step by step. Or at least point me another thread or website. Thank you so much in advance. Mike

to make possible your file sharing you should:

1)give names to your 2 computers. (right clic to My computer icon-->properties-->computer name-->change). Also, give a workgroup. Be sure to write the same workgroup name in both mike1 and mike2, for example "HOME".

2) After that, if you want to share entire your C you will go: double click to mycomputer, then right click on C-->sharing and security-->sharing-->check the "share this folder on the network".

3)Disable any firewalls you might have.

4)If you don't want to share entire your C, but only for example your Music folder, make the same: right click on Music-->sharing and security-->sharing-->check the "share this folder on the network"

5)you might need a reboot between steps 1 and 2.

6)Finally, for security reasons meaning not to share internet and not watching your shared files other people may be in your WiLan range, make your MAC settings in your router, so that to let only your 2 PC's be in your router.

Hope helped.
