Razr is now free from Amazon.com

For new contract only, Razr is now free after rebates from Amazon.com. If

Why did you spam to so many newsgroups? Do you work for Amazon or Cingular?
You even sent it to the T-mobile newsgroup (the one with voicestream in the
title). If the readers there wish to stay with their T-Mobile service, they
will not get a "free" Razr.

One has to consider what is meant by "free". I assume one has to sign a two
year contract with Cingular. I read somewhere it has the largest amount of
customer complaints among the wireless services. Switch to a bad service for
two years just to get a "free" phone? I don't think so.

On T-Mobile for $39.95 I have 1000 monthly "anytime" minutes, and unlimited
weekends. Free long distance, no roaming charges, etc. I can connect to the
Internet with and through my phone at no extra charge. I don't know how much
a similar plan would cost through Cingular, but probably a lot more, every
month. The monthly charges would quickly surpass the amount of the "free"
RAZR.

How did you get T-Zones for free? I have the $39.95 for 1000 min plan too
but I have to pay extra for T-Zones to access the internet. I would like to
know what plan includes it so I can get it free too.

Lets put that in perspective. Cingular has the largest number of
customers. So raw numbers tells you nothing.

Yes but that's a "Local" plan, and no free nights, go out of state, and
EVERY call is an expensive roaming call.

With Cingular I have "Rollover", which as I approach one year of Freedom
from dropped calls, biodegradeable over heating phones and grief from
CSRs with strictly enforced handle time limits (Convergys makes it easy
to track that for their managers) from SprintPCS, I still love my "works
and looks like new" Motorola v600 and the myriad rollover minutes I
have.

Jack, take another look at TMo's site. As the OP said, the $39.95 plan is a
National plan - not a Local one as you proffer - that includes the
following: 1000 anytime minutes, free calls to/from other TMo numbers, free
long distance, and no roaming charges anywhere in the USA. Unlimited N&W is
a $6 option or, you can pay $39.95 for 600 min plus unlimited N&W with free
LD and no roaming charges.
On Cingular, $39.95 would get me National coverage with only 450 day minutes
plus 5000 N&W.
I generally use about 400-500 minutes per month so I'd have little
rollover and maybe even overtime charges on Cingular at this price point. I
use very few N&W minutes. So, on TMo, I get twice the minutes for the same
price, with the same free LD and roaming. An equivalent plan on Cingular
would cost an additional $168 +tax/year on Cingular "apples to apples" or
$240 +tax yr for me w/out the unl N&W option or using the 600 minute plan
w/unl N&W.
As a bonus, I get very fast and helpful customer service when I need it.
When I recently called about something they handled it promptly and to my
complete satisfaction. Without asking for it, they offered to add an
additional 25 minutes to my account (not that I needed it) to thank me for
being a good customer. Nice gesture even if it had no value to me.

PLUS ROLLOVER, plus a lot more coverage, plus most of that coverage is
at 850 MHz rather than 1900 MHz, so it works better indoors.

Duh. Why do you think they offered it. Cause they knew it wouldnt be
used and would cost them zero. TMobile put one over on you.

Not really. I knew it was worth nothing when they did it. It made no
difference as they handled the reason I called nicely and quickly.

Well, as I said, at 450 I'd never get any rollover since I'd use them all
and then some. That means I'd have to go to the $60 plan to get 900 minutes.
Coverage hasn't been an issue for me as it works wherever I've gone in the
US. I also have had no problems in my homes or offices so the 850 isn't a
big deal to me.

level and buy a plan that covers that. The rollovers are there but most
likely will never get used costing them nothing - looks like they put one
over on you!

case, so you won't feel guilty about getting TMobile without Rollover

Feel "Guilty?" Of what? If I use 400 - 500 minutes per month how would I
ever get any rollover time on the $39.95/450 min. plan Cingular offers? I'm
much better off with 1000 minutes for the same money. Cingular wants $59.95
for 900 minutes but then I'd actually be paying $20 +tax for the 400
"rollover" minutes that I already get on my $39.95 plan. Jack, any way you
do the math you'll find that TMo is a better value. I'm not trying to be a
TMo cheerleader - just pointing out the math as it applies to me. Everybody
has to work their own numbers to see what's best for themselves.
In any case, the point of my first reply was simply to point out that your
assumption that the $39.95/1000 minute plan on TMo is Local only was
incorrect and it is indeed a National plan.

Get what works for *you!* Rollover is nothing but a gimmick. For
most people they don't make wildly different amounts of calling each
month so it's just a gimmick.
