Default router to router question....

Its kinda hard to search for router to router very well, so I have a question.

At home my main router is a Linksys WRT54G - v3. It brings in the internet from a cable modem and gets this and my other computer onto the net, wired. I also use it for my modded xbox.

I travel a lot and if its a short trip I leave my desktop home and take only the xbox. I have GentooX Linux on it and use that to surf, email and chat.

Since I travel so much I want to cut down on the external equipment I have to carry around. I just purchased a Netgear WRG614 router that I'm going to install internally in the xbox. This way a wireless adapter is always with the xbox, and is useable by both xbox and Linux without the need for additional drivers. 3 LAN and the 1 WAN port will be accessable from the outside. The 4th LAN will be internally connected to the xbox.

What I need to know is when I'm home can I connect this to my WRT54G easily and have everything work just fine? Also, when I'm on the road and the hotel has wired internet, can I just slap the cable into the WAN port and have it work?

If all this can be done, what do I need to configure on the WRG614 (inside xbox). I can configure it easily enough through Linux.

after more research I have learned more, but still need help....

I can get some 3rd party firmware for the WRT54G (main home router) that allows it to go into client/bridge mode. However I still want the WRG614 in the xbox.

Anyone know where I can find some 3rd party firmware for Netgear routers?
