Default borrowing a bluetooth signal

i recently purchased a kensington wifi finder plus:

http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...6526&pfp=srch1

it's a keychain that detects wifi and bluetooth signals (and acts as a flashlight)

it's been working great. i'm on vacation right now, and i find wifi and bluetooth signals all over the place. my laptop has a built in wifi card, but has no bluetooth capabilities.

my question is, are bluetooth signals usually secured? i can connect to a bunch of unsecured wifi networks. i pick up some bluetooth signals in some convenient places (by the pool and beach). is it possible that i could connect to the internet if i had a bluetooth adapter? how does filesharing work? are shares linked automatically through windows networking, like they are with wifi?

i've never used bluetooth before for anything. i've heard it usually requires a little more setup than wifi. could i use these bluetooth signals i pick up for anything at all, or are they of no value to me?

thanks,
jeff
