Reassigning bluetooth virtual COM port (from COM41 to COM4)
I am still struggling to set up a bluetooth printer adapter EpOX BT-PA02A connected to an Epson Stylus Photo 750, as in an earlier thread. I have started a new thread, as the problem has been simplified by some advice that I have received.
I am using Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 9300 (with a Dell Truemobile 350 Bluetooth 2.0 card installed). The bluetooth manager in Windows XP easily locates and then connects to the BT-PA02A, allocating it COM41 as its port. However, when I open up the printer's properties, to try and change the port to COM41, this port is not listed among the serial ports available.
When you connect to a new bluetooth device, the bluetooth manager in Windows XP chooses the number of the COM port itself. The advice from EPoX is that the number of the COM port assigned to the printer adapter by the bluetooth manager (COM41) is too high, and I need to reassign it either COM4, COM5, COM6 or COM7. Does anyone know how I might do this (and does it sound like a plausible solution)?
