Motorola v551 & PalmOne Zire 72

Hi,

When I try to connect my motorola v551 phone to my Zire 72 Palm through BT, my phone is detected in the trusted device section but as a "PDA" and not a phone...then when I try to setup a phone connection in my Zire 72 to my Motorola v551 in the setup devices section, the phone is not detected...

Anyone have a clue why this is?

Paul from Palm here. Have you installed the Palm Phone Link Update? This update provides compatibility with new phones (including the V551) and more service providers. Information and a download link can be found via the main Zire 72 Support page at http://www.palm.com/us/support/zire72/. There's a link for the Update under the "Downloads" section.

The update was installed on the palm, yes. When the phone was detected, it was detected as a PDA and not a phone, and it was only detected as a trusted device.

I have the same problem with a Motorola v551 and a Palm Tungsten T3. When the phone is paired with the Palm, it shows up as "Type: Computer" and when I pair the phone with a PC, it shows "Type of device: Computer, Desktop". I would really like to be able to pair the phone and the PDA, but until I figure out what's going on, I don't think I can.
