We've had cable internet in our house for a while now through Adelphia with a linksys cable modem and i've been using a linksys 4-port router to supply an internet connection to 2 computers and my playstation 2. I was able to set up a home network and share files and printers through the linksys router. Recently i bought a laptop for school, and it came with a built-in wireless feature, so i bought the D-Link (DI-524) Wireless Router and replaced my linksys router with it. I turned off everything and plugged everything in, turned everything on in order, and all computers including the laptop were able to access the internet just fine (playstation2 and 2 computers are hardwired, 1 laptop wireless). but when i tried to go to the network places i had set up before, it couldnt find them. I've been trying to use iTunes to view each computer's music files as well, but iTunes does not recognize each computer like it used to as well.
The router came with extra instructions about setting up an admin password and stuff, so i tried the D-Link router setup wizard and then the router stopped working alltogether. I reset all the settings and plugged everything back in to the original configuration that i had when i first hooked up the d-link wireless router and it works fine again...for internet.
Is there something i'm doing wrong in the setup that's preventing each computer from seeing eachother across the router? Is there a simple fix?
Any advice is much appreciated.
