Default Best way to legally extend network 750ft in one direction?

What would you guys suggest to best help me do this without violating the FCC regulations?

Can a WRT54G with HyperWRT and a linksys high-gain antenna achieve this distance of 750ft between 2 houses? Is there another certified antenna that would work better. It's pretty much line of sight the whole way.

I was thinking of having another router in the second house to act as an extender for the connection from house #1.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Brian
