I'm trying to get my Kensington BT USB Adapter to work on my computer in order to hotsync my PDA wirelessly and gain access to my computer's internet connection. The struggle has been great and I've given up to the point of returning the adapter I bought. After reading more about the adapters and their capabilites I remain convinced that gaining internet access through it is possible. Plus, I've found that I can purchase the adapters over the internet for a fraction of the cost of them at big box stores. However, there seems to be some compatibility issues between my router and the adapter.
system basics:
Dell PC
RealTek 10/100 mbs NIC @ IP 192.168.0.1
D-Link 4 port wired router
RCA cable modem
Roadrunner high speed internet access
Kensington BT USB adapter w/Widcomm software/drivers
Here's my problem.
If I eliminate my LAN by taking my router out of the system and directly connect to the internet, I can share the NIC connection and get the BT Adapter to work. But, when I leave the router in and try to share the internet connection via ICS (RealTek NIC), I get a message that the IP address is already being used by another device on the system. What gives? Any suggestions and hints are greatly appreciated.
