Default Can't get my cell to synch with laptop (BT)

I recently bought a new Dell e1705 duo core with a bluetooth card built in. I was excited to think that I could link it to my Motorola V551 BT phone so I didn't have to type in all of my contacts and phone numbers using that darned little numeric keypad. Straight out of the box I fired the laptop up, put my phone in discover mode and my laptop found it right away. I obtained a copy of mobile phonetools and started it up thinking that the software would automatically recognize my cell phone connection and let me start transfering stuff. wrong...

When I bond my cell phone with my laptop it automatically creates a dial-up connection. I have no intention to use my cell phone as a network connection for my modem. I simply want the laptop to be able to transfer data back and forth with the phone. Never the less it is a step it makes me go through in the bonding wizard. The default telephone number it puts in the wizard is *99#. I don't know what this means but I leave it as default. Once the wizard completes I get a window that shows my cell phone as an available connection. If I click on it it opens a dialog window that looks like a dial up connection. I hit connect and it dials the *99#. The lights on my cell phone come on and I get a networking icon in the tray that shows data is sending and recieving. I am unsure if this is the connection I am looking for in order to simply update my contact list and phone numbers.

If I leave this connection open and start Mobile Phonetools, the software acts like it finds nothing and that I need to setup a new cell phone. The software prompts me off the bat with a message...

The Motorola Bluetooth USB Adapter was not detected. Please selct one of the following options:
1. Install the BT USB PC Adapter
2. Use another BT adapter installed.

I assume I should just use the already installed BT adapter. So I select that option. It then prompts me to make sure I am bonded and that Dial up networking (DUN) is enabled. I click finish and I get an error saying that the software will not function without a mobile device installed. Do I want to install one? If you click yes it just starts you over again. It seem like the software does not recognize my already prest connection with my cell phone. All of the help I have found on the web all talks about using the cell phone as a modem though. Somebody please help!
