Bluetooth version questions

I am new to bluetooth (heard that before, right?

) and now have a Toshiba e800 with bluetooth. I have a couple other devices in mind (head set and OBD connector) but have gotten the impression that the BT version can make a difference.

How can I determine what version BT is running on my PDA?

Are there compatibility issues between versions?
