Problems running itech headset on medion notebook
Hi,
I have a Medion MD95500 Notebook with an integrated bluetooth device and Windows XP Professional installed.
I don't know why there are several devices listed in my device manager:
There is a section called "Bluetooth Radios", under which there are two devices listed:
- Blutonium BCM2035 Bluetooth 2.4 GHz Single Chip Transceiver
- Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
In addition there are two bluetooth devices listed under section "Network adapters":
- Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
- Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)
I have no idea why there are FOUR single devices listed, while I expect there to be only ONE physical bluetooth device built into my notebook.
Anyway, I also have an itech bluetooth headsed. It is the BlueBand one. I have successfully detected the headset using the "Add Bluetooth Device Wizard". My headset is on, and the headset now appears in the "Bluetooth Devices" window, which I can acces through the control panel. This being so, I would expect any sound played by my computer to be redirected to my headset, but: ZERO. My headset is simply ignored by my Computer, as it appears. No sound on the headset, only sound via the speakers of my notebook.
So the next thing I did was to look up the contents of the mini disk provided with the headset. But all it contained were some manuals with some silly SIS-files I cannot run (mpob_itech_v12a.SIS, mpob_itech_v12b.SIS). The manual pretended like it was that easy to make use of those files. Obviously they are not drivers, since I couldn't use them to update any of the bluetooth devices listed in my device manager. There are INF-files required.
So I looked for software on the itech-homepage where I found some software for some usb-dongle. Googling told me that it contains the WICOMM driver. I installed it, and at least I now have a "My Bluetooth Places" symbol on my desktop. I have already found out that this doesn't solve my problem anyway, when I run the "Start Using Bluetooth" command on the red and blue bluetooth symbol on the taskbar, all I get is the well-known Software License issue. The same issue which cannot be solved by deleting the bth.inf file in the WINDOWS/inf directory prior to reinstalling the WICOMM driver to prevent Windows XP from using its own driver.
All in all, I don't know how to solve this problem. The reasons are
A) I don't know which of the four mentioned bluetooth devices in my device manager represents the one that works with my headset.
B) I don't know how to find out whether the required A2DP profile (the one needed according to the headset's manual) is already installed on my Notebook for the proper device, and if isn't, how to download that profile, since the bluetooth.org website doesn't allow me to download anything without registration and doesn't allow me to register without an email-address and doesn't accept any email address I type in, because it doesn't accept the domain (be it yahoo.com or hotmail.com).
C) I don't know how to aquire the proper driver for my headset if needed, because there is no driver FOR MY HEADSET on the itech homepage, only some drivers for some usb dongle accompanied by the same silly SIS files I already have on that useless mini disk.
I'm getting desperate. Please help.
