Bluetooth modem just won't dial any more
I've got a Zoom bluetooth modem and dongle on my laptop (still on 56k in my region) which worked perfectly until recently.
The problem is, I bought a PDA which needed to use Bluetooth to ActiveSync as the cradle was broken. Because I'd had the modem before I upgraded to XP SP2, I was using the software that came with it rather than the Windows version. However, I couldn't use this with ActiveSync. I thought it was time I switched anyway, so I got rid of the software that came with the dongle and started using the Windows version.
This is fine for ActiveSync, I can get it to work perfectly with my PDA. However, I can't reconfigure it to use the modem.
It has been added in Bluetooth Devices and I've activated the Dial-Up Modem part. The dongle and modem find each other absolutely fine, but it just won't dial. Every time I get an error saying that no dial tone was found.
I've fiddled around with the settings, matching COM ports etc, but that's made no difference. In Device Manager, it says the dongle is working perfectly. The only thing I can see there is that it is no longer listed by its name, only as "Generic Bluetooth Radio" or something.
Can anyone suggest something? I really don't know what to try next.
