Unhappy please help. what's goin on?

in the past i have installed my belkin bluetooths on abou 4 different comps with no probs.

The process usually goes as
1/install belkin cd. reboot.
2/plug in belkin. get toolbar notification - belkin firmware downloader
3/then i install the specific locaton C/belkin/bin

and it works fine.

But there is this one particular computer, this one, and it says it installs but when i go to configuration or exploire my bt places it says 'no local bt device detected'

Its so frustrating!

The usb ports work cos i can get the relevant plug in/out noises.

The computer i'm trying to install on has aol 9.0
and Mcaffee security. but as far as i can see these are not causing the problems. As i have given them the relevant authorisation and they are not 'blocked'

I've tried using other software than the cd supplied for the belkin and i have also tried other bt dongles with no success.

Most times microsoft toolbar interviens with pop-ups and starts installing stuff like 'bluetonuim 2.4 ghz' and 'bt enumerator' or something like that. I don't get this with any of the other computers...and I believe that is part of the problem with this computer. With all the other comps i've tried, it just recognises my ft8001s as belkin and nothing else.

I would be really grateful if someone could help me, cos this is the only way i will be able to get the internet on my computer.

many thanks for your help!
