Default Sending file via Bluetooth to cell phone

Hi guys, not experienced with Bluetooth yet so I need some help. I'd like to send a .mp3 file to my cell phone to make it my ringtone. I have a Windows XP and my cell phone is a Motorola RAZR. My Bluetooth program on my laptop does not recognize the cell phone's Bluetooth. Can anybody help me and instruct me how to do this? Thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm using a Samsung D807 phone with Bluetooth enabled. I'm using a Dell Latitude D600 with the internal TrueMobile Bluetooth module. Everything seems to be setup ok but when I try to find bluetooth devices on my laptop it doesn't find anything. The phones don't seem to be the problem as I'm able to get a bluetooth connection up between my phone and my wife's phone (also a D807). However, the laptop wont find either phone.

I don't know about the Samsung, but I'm using a Motorola RAZR V3x and even though I can neither send nor receive files using the Bluetooth software on my laptop, I can do both using the Motorola Phone Tools.
Don't you have the Motorola software with your phone trojanick?

Who is your carrier? I'm with VZW, and to the best of my knowledge, their phones (like my Moto Z6tv) are set to block ringtone transfer using bluetooth. Using my bluetooth dongle, I can transfer MP3s to my_music on the microSD card, but cannot send ringtones to my_ringers on the phone.

notice that not all the ringtones can be sent, some ringtones you download or made by yourself, may be ok to sent by bluetooth, but many ringtones stored in system are not accessable to sent directly, what you can do is try to move it or copy it to your external storage card, then try to send it via bluetooth, maybe ok...

Hmm, I actually never had any problems sending some cell ringtones or any other file around. You could buy an extra bluetooth stick and send it via that.

Have you checked that they are both using the most updated Bluetooth version? It's most likely the Bluetooth driver for your PC needs to be updated. I had to update my driver in order to pair my BlueAnt Z9i with my laptop using it's built in Bluetooth card.

I also had the same problem when I tried to pair my phone with my laptop which was also fixed by updating the drivers.
