Help Connecting Tablet and iPAQ by com ports
Hi,
I have a Motion Computing LS800 tablet and an HP HX4700 iPAQ. I would like to send a GPS signal from Franson GPSGate through a Bluetooth com port from the tablet to the iPAQ.
I can get the tablet to see the iPAQ and set up incoming and outgoing com ports (11 and 12). It is using the Microsoft Bluetooth enumerator. The name of the tablet is VISTANAVTP. The iPAQ is named Wildcat.
I can get the iPAQ to see the tablet, but I can't get it to connect. Or create com ports.
The user manual says that it should be able to create com ports based on a bluetooth connection with another device.
On the iPAQ, I have gone into the Bluetooth/Services tab and turned off Authorization required and Authentication required. I have enabled the com port service. Under the advanced tab, the ports are set to 5 and 8 (I can't change them from the menu). Under Accessibility All Devices are allowed to connect and other devices can discover me. And of course, bluetooth is on.
On the iPAQ, under Bluetooth Manager, I have looked up and found the tablet as a device and entered a Passkey, which matches the passkey I used to access the iPAQ from the tablet. When I hit ok, the tablet asked me to hit the balloon to allow the connection and I entered the passkey.
It seemed to create the paired device ok. But there is nothing active in the Incoming and Outgoing connections screen.
So I Explore a Bluetooth device. It shows me the tablet, and the only service is "Personal Ad-hoc User Service" (Does this cover everything, including the ability to set up a com port connection? Or is the only thing I can do with this service is set up an Ad-Hoc network connection (not what I want, I want serial port connection, so my navigation software can get the GPS data over the serial port link)). So I select it and select next. Use secure, encrypted connection is off. It creates a short cut for me. I double click the new connection. It comes back and tells me the connection failed. "Unable to establish connection."
What am I doing wrong?
Is what I am trying to do even possible?
