Problem with TEN Technology naviPlay ipod adapter

Hey. This is my first time doing anything here, but I really needed help. I have a 5.5 gen video ipod, a TEN Technology naviPlay Bluetooth Stereo Adapter for my ipod, and an Insignia NS-BTHDP Bluetooth Headset. I can successfully turn on everything, and they pair properly. The problem is, that no matter what I play, I can't hear any sound, only a faint crackling. I've tried numerous sound settings, I've turned them on and off and repaired a few times. I wonder if this might have to do with any settings from itunes, or if there is something wrong with the hardware? I know that TEN Technology recently went out of business. Any help, please?
