Sure it is a cool car and I would like to have one, but calling it Midsized
is a stretch.

I sat in one at the dealer the other day and Midsized did not come to mind.

Dimension Prius Camry Accord
Fr Headroom 39.1 39.2 38.3
R Headroom 37.1 38.3 36.8
Fr shoulder 55.3 57.5 56.9
R shoulder 53.0 56.7 56.1
Fr hip room 51.0 54.4 54.6
R hip room 51.6 54.1 53.5
Fr leg room 41.9 41.6 42.6
R leg room 38.6 37.8 36.8

Certainly looks like a mid size sedan to me. The above figures came
from the Edmunds.com vehicle comparison function, and are for four-door
sedans for all three models.

Well, I guess there isn't much difference between what is classified as a
compact and a midsize. They all seem pretty small to me. Even some of the
cars that are classified today as Full size, aren't very big.

I pulled in the dimensions for the Neon and Civic which are compact sedans.
Civic has more front headroom than any of them. Some of the Civic
measurements are more than the Prius.

Dimension Neon Civic Prius Camry Accord
Fr Headroom 38.4 39.8 39.1 39.2 38.3
Fr shoulder 53.4 52.6 55.3 57.5 56.9
Fr hip room 52.4 51.2 51 54.4 54.6
Fr leg room 42.2 42.2 41.9 41.6 42.6

R Headroom 36.7 37.2 37.1 38.3 36.8
R shoulder 52.8 52 53 56.7 56.1
R hip room 52.9 49.8 51.6 54.1 53.5
R leg room 34.8 36 38.6 37.8 36.8

Added up 363.6 360.8 367.6 379.6 375.6

For fun, I summed up all the measurements and the Prius falls right in the
middle.

One measurement that none of them give that makes a car feel small or big is
the height of the seat off of the ground and the total height of the door
opening. As a big man with a bad back and knees, it is just easier to get
into a car that isn't slammed down to the ground and has a low door opening.
