must say that N6230 is nice, but quality of mp3 with nokias phones is
terrible. but also quality that reproduce 6230 with good phones - is not
as nice as on my old siemens sl45i.
equalizer is just for fun - because don't change enything. its also not
so loud as you will need on street. but...

...as an package - is nice an functional well balanced. if You dont need
as me - to use MMC or SD card - look at SonyEricc or wait for some new
models from Siemens (I wait for around two years and bun N6230 )) ).
siemens use MMC also.

N6260 looks fun. get some adds on 6230 funcionality but... who them
knows in comfort of use before this model arrive on market...

there is also 6600 (6610?) but is bigger. and itsn not exactly a phone
but an simple smartphone (but still quality od mp3 player overal is
poor).

The one I know about is the k700i, while it sounded very nice playing MP3s
and AAC(MP4/iTunes/iPod)s on the supplied headset/earbuds. To me it's
major limiting factor is it's 41 meg of memory(unexpandable), which is
roughly 40mins of 128kbps MP3s or AACs, assuming you got nothing else
stored in it, like photos, movies, games, ringtones, etc.

Guess I'm spoiled by having a 20gig iPod and 256meg Pocket PC ;-)

I tried a friends 6600 a couple of weeks ago, and MP3s sounded reasonably
OK to me.

The worse one has to be the Nokia 7610, this AFAIK only plays MP3s in MONO!

I like my 6820. Don't think it has MP3 though.

A work-colleague has one of those.

Well it don't play MP3s for a start, if that's what you're really after.
The STN passive screen ain't that clever, not very visible strong light.
And the camera is rather poor, CIF rez 352 x 288 pixels.

But it is tri-band, battery life appears reasonable, RF performance seems
to be OK, and it has a FM radio, and it ain't too expensive on PAYG.

And the styling and marketing would IMO indicate a 'fashion phone'.
